Recipe from my Grandma Dot (Dorothy Kinnane). Brings back wonderful memories. This was her favorite cookie!
- 3 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ cup (1 stick) of margarine or butter
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup (8 oz.) sour cream
- cinnamon/sugar mixture: ( ¼ cup of each and mix)
- Pecan halves
Measure flour, baking powder, and baking soda into a sifter. NOTE* I have made these without a sifter.
In large bowl, cream margarine with sugar until blended.
Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Sift in flour mixture, adding alternately with sour cream and blending to make a thick batter.
Drop by rounded Tablespoons – 4” apart on a greased cookie sheet.
Sprinkle each cookie with some cinnamon/sugar mixture. Really just sprinkle A LOT on!!
Then place a pecan half on top of each cookie.
Bake at 400 degrees for about 12 minutes OR until LIGHTLY browned. Make sure only lightly browned!!
Watch closely. Do not overcook
